How the prices are worked out
An appraisal answers one question: what does this pile of items cost to buy, or bring when sold, right now at a trade hub?
Order by order, not at the best price
Buying 1,000 units means taking the cheapest sell orders until 1,000 are filled. If the best order sells 5 units at 10 ISK and the next 100 units at 11 ISK, then 105 units cost 5×10 + 100×11 = 1,150 ISK, not 105×10. One cheap order of a few units does not set the price for the rest. Selling works the same way on the highest buy orders.
- Sell each / Sell total: what buying the quantity from the sell orders costs (the average per unit and the sum).
- Buy each / Buy total: what selling the quantity into the buy orders brings.
- Split: halfway between the two per-unit averages.
- Best price only (the toggle): the best single order times the quantity, for comparison with other tools.
- When the market holds fewer units than you ask for, the line is marked ⚠ and its total covers only what is there.
Where the numbers come from
- The public EVE Online ESI: the complete order lists of the regions of the five trade hubs, read every 5 minutes (ESI itself caches them for five).
- Only orders located in the hub station count: Jita IV - Moon 4 - Caldari Navy Assembly Plant; Amarr VIII (Oris) - Emperor Family Academy; Dodixie IX - Moon 20 - Federation Navy Assembly Plant; Rens VI - Moon 8 - Brutor Tribe Treasury; Hek VIII - Moon 12 - Boundless Creation Factory.
- Not counted: orders in other stations or structures, and the minimum fill size of buy orders.
- PLEX trades in its own global market, where every order can be filled from anywhere: it is priced from that market at every hub.
- An appraisal keeps the prices it was made with; "Appraise again" prices the same list with today's market.

Inventory and asset lists copied from the game, contracts, multibuys (Tritanium x 1000, 1000 Tritanium), plain names, and EFT fittings. Names must match the game's names (case does not matter); lines that do not are listed with a suggestion.
